While still in High School (and long before his sparkling acting career) Gary Burghoff won the Hallmark Award for his mixed media painting, MEN OF JAZZ, which went on to represent the State of Wisconsin in the Hallmark Student Art Exhibit in Washington, D.C. in 1961.

Mr. Burghoff’s love of drawing and painting extends from early childhood and has been closely related to his love of nature and the environment. After High School. Mr. Burghoff lived and studied acting in New York City where (after six years of hard work) he landed a successful N.Y. musical, YOUR A GOOD MAN CHARLIE BROWN. What followed was 27 years of fine theater; film and television work, including his emmy-winning portrayal of “RADAR” in the highly respected M.A.S.H. television series in 1976.

Mr. Burghoff has donated years of his life as a volunteer for various environmental causes. He was affectionately known as “THE BIRDMAN OF MALIBU” for his work rehabilitating injured and ailing waterfowl at his home in Southern California.

Today he is the spokesperson for the Federal Duck Stamp Program and was honored by the U.S. Department of the Interior, which asked him to judge the 1994 Federal Duck Stamp Competition. He also hosts a PBS series called PETS:PART OF THE FAMILY, which has been nominated for the “Genesis Award” for best new animal television show, and won the gold metal at the Huston Film Festival.

Mr. Burghoff’s artwork is selling in select galleries around the country. He considers his work a very personal experience, expressing his deep respect for nature. He enjoys sharing his art with collectors who share that respect and appreciation.
